The bright orange moon plays peek-a-boo
among the clouds.
Now you see it. Now you don’t.
The night creatures rub the long sleep
Out of their black eyes.
Some of them only come out once a year.
When the veil between “here” and “there”
is the thinnest.
If you are wise, you’ll befriend them.
Better to let them have what they want.
The sudden puff of cold air.
Was it wings?
It’s scary when it’s dark.
When the air doesn’t move out of fear.
The safety you felt during the daylight
eludes you now.
Your breathing is shallow.
Your legs can barely hold you up.
Your heart is beating wildly in your chest.
You sense movement outside.
See an occasional flicker of light.
What WAS it???
You can’t be sure, can you.
Sometimes you think you hear voices.
Evil-sounding laughter.
And then….silence.
You may catch a glimpse of one if
you are brave enough to go near a window.
Hideous.
Monstrous.
Grotesque.
Gruesome.
They are lurking everywhere!
You know what they want.
You’ve had time to gather your offering.
Best pray that you have enough.
And just when you think they’ve gone….
DING-DONG!
TRICK OR TREAT!!!!
Mwaaahahahahhahahhh
Are you ready for Halloween?
