In the Beginning…

At first breath there was Innocence.

A brain yet to be bombarded with

Sights, smells, sounds, words.

A Spirit so pure not the least

Smudge could be seen.

But unprepared to fight the battles

Yet to come.

Life was simple, uncluttered.

Then everything changed

With independent movement.

Discoveries!

Oh my! What’s this?

Uh oh.

So much to see and do!

Gathering thoughts like a magnet.

Some more powerful than others.

But unfiltered.

What a great place my World was then!

Populated with Tooth Fairies, Easter Bunnies

And Santa Claus.

Birthday cakes with candles!

Safety.

The protective barrier around me held

For many more years.

I was content within my cocoon of simplicity.

Unaware of the Danger

The Cruelty.

The Heartache.

The Worries

Up ahead.

Ignorance is not only bliss,

It is often preferable.

Oh, how I wish Life hadn’t distorted

my Reality!
