I put the pickax away with the rest of my tools,
Glad to finally be home safe at last.
It was just a bit before twilight;
The day had slipped by me so fast.

I’d been far too busy to worry
And fret about things yet to pass,
Or even notice the family of rabbits
As they played in the sweet-smelling grass.

Just a little ways past the yon forest
Is where I go when I feel I must hide.
A waterfall sings in the background
To drown out all troubles inside.

At those times when you’re yearning for quiet,
This is the spot you should go.
It’s the closest you’ll get to pure Heaven.
I’ve been there, please trust me, I know.

So, if you find yourself wond’ring
If  life’s worth all the sadness and pain
Just get in your car and keep driving
‘til you come to the end of my lane.

A ramshackle house sits off to the right,
And I’ll wave as I see you pass by.
Happy to know that you’ve found it
Now you’ll know that it wasn’t a lie.

Ms. C and I, your adoring fans, wonder if you have a new poem to post?
